The wedding ceremony will take place at Our Lady of Hope in beautiful Dundalk, Maryland. Our Lady of Hope is the home parish of Nick's grandmother on his father's side. All 7 of the Acks' children went to school here (Nick's father and aunts and uncles.) Our Lady of Hope was the first church built in the diocese after Vatican II. Hence the rather funky design. There's been some controversy in the last year over the "recent" additions of traditional Roman Catholic elements, like statues, which were originally left out in the spirit of modernity. However, the congregation found the plans of the original architect to be rather lacking in spirituality and raised their own funds at a later date to add those missing elements back in to the sanctuary. Recently, one of the Preservation Societies has begun trying to get OLOH classified as an historical building so that no further changes can be made by the congregation. Our ceremony will be celebrated in the Chapel at Our Lady of Hope.
The reception will take place at Lantern Gardens in Rosedale, Maryland. Lantern Gardens currently occupies the old Rosedale Fire Hall building. Don't know too much about it other than there is a steamfitter's/pipefitter's meeting hall is in the basement. It's a hop skip and a jump from where Golden Ring Mall used to be, for those of you who are familiar with the area. Lantern Gardens is a hall run exclusively by Sterling Caterers.
